Research
Research in the Switch Laboratory focuses on understanding the mechanisms gearing protein folding and misfolding and their relation to human disease. We use an interdisciplinary experimental approach to tackle these questions, combining bioinformatics, biophysical analysis of protein aggregates, and molecular and cellular studies of aggregation, in human cell culture as well as model organisms including zebrafish and mice. Find out more about our projects, software and technology below!
Software
Aggregation predictors, databases, ands protein structure analysis.
Biophysics Platform
The Switch Laboratory established the Biophysics Unit, a platform supporting scientists that use molecular biophysical techniques and instruments in their research. The unit hosts state-of-the-art equipment and a dedicated unit leader, Valentina Zorzini, to offer expertise and training to other labs. Take a look around with Valentina in this short vlog!
Technology
Protein Engineering
Solubis, a rational protein design strategy developed in the Switch laboratory, can reduce the aggregation propensity of biologicals without affecting their thermodynamic stability.
Pept-ins™
The Pept-ins™ technology uses short amyloidogenic protein fragments for the selective suppression or detection of proteins.
